Finally, Prepping for Pine Ridge

(These first two posts were reuploaded because we published them in the wrong place. Not surprising for us.)

Pine Ridge, here we come! This is Kevin Coriolan and Tou Xiong, two of Buena Vista University's beautiful and manly students who are both fortunate enough to receive the opportunity of traveling on an AWOL trip (Alternative Week of Off-site Learning) along with eight other students in our group.
Well, we're not exactly on our way yet because we have four hours left until we head out to the South Dakota Indian reservation near the Badlands. In our excitement, we're spending the night wide awake meditating on what is to come. A slumber party you could say.

For six days, the Oglala Lakota tribe will have the pleasure of working with us, the "dynamic duo." We'll serve the community by working on home repair projects and living the same as the residents do. With the great weather that's been gracing us recently, we're ready to get down and dirty!

From the trip, Tou is excited for the new perspectives he will receive on life in general and the different culture of Pine Ridge. Being the chill guy that he is, Tou is planning to take the whole experience in as it comes and go wherever the wind takes him. Building connections with the fellow AWOL travelers and the locals is what Kevin is eager to do. Always keen to meet new people, he's hoping the group will be able to attend a pow-wow to engage in the local festivities. Kevin is also working on satisfying his goal of being the most cultured man alive by interacting with the Oglala Lakota tribe.

Overall, we're both ready to mature from our alternative spring break. You're welcome to follow us along as we fulfill our global responsibility by becoming more culturally aware.
