It really livened up the outdoor rec space! While the kids were at nap time, a few of us had some down time so we went to the nearby Dallas animal shelter. There are so many puppies! (Sorry every dog is a puppy in my book.) Yes, there were some cats too. The puppies were so excited to see people! The animal shelter was amazing. I have never seen such a clean, efficient, no kill shelter. I really think we need a puppy for the ride home. During the evening we had a deep reflection. It is incredible to see what the children are capable of. Even simple things, such as washing their hands, can seem like a difficult task. We learned that we need to push the children because they can accomplish great things. Telling nonverbal children to pick up a toy or to throw away their plate and they actually do it is an interesting experience. These children are truly amazing.

Flowers and other pretty things
Had another awesome day today here in Dallas! It is always a new adventure at Bryan's house. We played with the children until lunch. It is amazing to see all the people that interact with the children. There are "grandparents" in nearly all of the classrooms; they are a part of the adopt-a-grandparent program. The grandparents come from various backgrounds, like new citizens. It is neat to see them work with the children, the children love them as if it was their own grandparent. Today we also planted flowers and painted planters.
