Prague

Prague has probably been the most beautiful place that we have been to so far! After getting off the train around one pm, we found our way to our hotel and meet up with our tour guide who showed us a couple of places around town. She showed us the old town square and all the different types of architecture styles. The type the Czech seemed to like the best was the gothic style. She also showed us some of the few jewish synigods that survived being burned down during the holocaust. We also got to see the Jewish Getto and the outside of another concentration camp. The bural place by the Jewish getto had graves so packed together and we found out that the Jews buried at this cemetery were barried on top of other graves. We found that there were at least five layers of graves stacked on top of one another. We also found the exchange rate of money between US money and Czech money is that one US dollar equals nineteen Korunas so we found that a lot of stuff in Prague was very affordable. The next day we meet up with another tour guide who gave us a tour around the castles and the largest cathedral in the Czech republic. The Cathedral is about 98 meters high but only makes it half the size of the biggest cathedral in the world! We also witnessed the changing of the guard. I did not even know that Prague had the changing of the guard until I saw it that day. They are not as serious or strick when they stand outside the palace like I thought that they would be. I think I even saw one crack a half smile when people were taking pictures of him. We then went to the Charles Bridge which had beautiful scenery and a lot of little stands selling homemade jewelry and paintings. We then split up for lunch/dinner. A group of us found a little returant called Sherrys. It was very delicious. I had penne pasta with a four cheese cream sauce and a hot chocolate. I also tried caviar for the first time. It was actually not that bad just a little salty. To end the night we went to one of the squares and went to a giant clock that they have there. At this clock every hour, the statues of the apostles of Prague come out of two doors at the top of the clock and music starts to play. It was cool to see something that the whole town will stop what they are doing and watch it all together. It should how proud they are of their country and it's something the whole town can enjoy together. That's all for now...it's on to Salzburg which I have heard that it has been snowing there and we will be near the mountains!
