Back in the States

After a long two days of traveling, we are back home.  We began our journey home on Thursday at 10:30am Korean time (Wednesday 7:30 PM, Iowa time) and arrived in the Omaha airport on Thursday at 9:30PM (Iowa time). After that I had a 2.5 hour drive home.

We started out with a 40 minute car ride with a couple of teachers to the bus stop. At the bus stop we hopped on the bus for the three hour drive to the Seoul Airport. Our first flight took off at 5:45 PM (Korea time) and lasted 14 hours. We landed in Detroit at 6:05 (Eastern time), where we had to go through customs. Going through customs in the US was much more challenging than customs in Korea. It took us about 45 minutes to get through because we had to get our unchecked bags, and go through the line having our passports checked along with our customs forms. We then had to recheck our bags and go through security. It was a long process, but went fairly smooth for most of us.

Our flight to Omaha left Detroit at about 8:15 and landed in Omaha at 9:30. It was a long few days after an amazing trip. I am very thankful I had the opportunity to go on this trip and have gained the experience of a life time. I would strongly suggest everyone who has the opportunity to teach in Korea to jump at the chance. Teaching there gave me a new appreciation for the importance of education and gave me real classroom experience. Even though I had a blast, I am very glad to be home.
