Two days from today we'll be on our way to the airport, and, now that Christmas is over, my attention is completely focused on preparing for our trip. As a notorious over-packer, I've spent the last couple of days obsessing over my packing list. I want to be sure that I have the things I need, but I also want to make sure that my bag is not super heavy since we'll be lugging our stuff all over Europe...on and off trains, up and down stairs. A couple of websites that I found to be very helpful for tips on packing light were www.onebag.com and www.ricksteves.com. Both had extensive checklists, packing techniques, and recommendations for luggage/bags. This morning I pulled out everything that I'm planning to take, and then I did a test run to ensure that it would all fit in my bags (one backpack and one cross-body day bag). I'm pleased to report that everything fit perfectly. Below is what I'm taking (excluding what I'll be wearing on the plane). I didn't even have to sit on the bag to get it to zip.
For three weeks in Europe, I think I did pretty well. And we'll be
checking our luggage at the airport, but this would also meet carry-on
restrictions, if needed. So now I'm essentially packed and ready to go!
Just two more days....
