Excited to tour Salon.com!
Salon.com's editor-in-chief, Kerry Lauerman!
Ground Zero Memorial. Such a surreal moment.
New York public library. I had to go here and pretend I was in the movie The Day After Tomorrow.
I just spent the last two days in New York City at the College Media Convention! It was an awesome opportunity that I will definitely never forget! Here, I attended several sessions of my choosing. There were so many to choose from, but I participated in ones dealing with sports, broadcasting, and media law (there were sessions for all media interests). My favorite session was held by the New York Times beat writers for the Jets and Giants! They taught me how to look for interesting stories beyond the obvious. In addition, I was selected for one of the media tours! I went to Salon.com with just a handful of other students. It was awesome to get an inside view of a New York City office and ask as many questions as we wanted! I even got to ask the editor-in-chief how he got to where he is today. He was more than happy to converse with us and talk about things like their internship program. This was a networking opportunity that I would have otherwise experienced! We also got to visit sites around the city like Times Square, Central Park, Grand Central Station, and the New York public library!
