Jack and the Giant Stone Thingummy

Today was a big day! First, our footsore bunch made the long trek by bus to Woodhenge and Stonehenge. We've had delightful weather, and the sun showed the old stone to its best advantage. Sadly, the audio tour did not always live up to its promise. There was not in fact a TARDIS at listening point 7, in spite of what the Guide script assured us to be the case. MOST distressing! It added insult to the injury that was our failure to see Matt Smith at The Flask pub last night.*

On our way home from the Henges, we stopped for lunge in the old resort city of Bath (featured so prominently in the novels of Jane Austen). Architecturally speaking, Bath is truly beautiful, and the rolling green countryside around it is really something to see!

Tonight, we had a terrific walking tour of Whitechapel, site of Jack the Ripper's infamous crimes. Our guide, Helen, was a truly marvelous storyteller, and we had a terrific time. The moon was creepy, the tale was eerie, and the city, old and new at once, showed us another few faces in the moonlight.

Tomorrow is our free day, and I've got a date with a museum; the national museums are free, and entirely amazing!

*Obligatory Doctor Who reference: CHECK.
