Free day in London

Today the group was allowed to have a free day, meaning people could do whatever they liked. Clint and I chose to sleep in, then go to Chinatown (which is only a couple of blocks from our hotel) for lunch.

After that, we wanted to see the British museum, famous for several exhibits, but perhaps most famous for the Rosetta Stone. This was really incredible, and we spent a couple of hours wandering around the museum. After that, we took the Underground to Buckingham Palace, then spent a few minutes checking out Piccadilly Circus (this is a neighborhood kind of like Times Square in New York, but smaller).

Finally, we went to Kings Cross train station in a nerdy attempt to pass through platform 9 3/4. Unfortunately, it looked nothing like the movies, and we weren't able to get past the brick between platforms 9 and 10. It still made for a really fun day.

Finally, we met some of the students and ended our time in London with dinner at an Italian restaurant and a few drinks at our favorite pub. London has been really wonderful, and I hope to come back some day soon. Tomorrow, we leave for Romania!

Below are photos of (1) Chinatown, (2) Piccadilly Circus, and (3) me trying to get to the Hogwarts Express.

  1. Looks like you'll just have to take a flying car to Hogwarts!
