In Amsterdam for layovers

We're in Amsterdam for our layover. It was supposed to be five hours, but our plane waited quite a long time for 20 people who had a late layover in Minneapolis, so now we only have about three hours. Still, it's quite nice because Swasti and I are both "elite" members on Delta. That means we get to use the Sky Lounge for free. We each get to bring one guest as well, so Jamii and Stan are here with us (Matt's on different flights, so we're not leaving him out). The lounge is great -- free internet, free food, open bar. An easy way to spend three hours.

Our flight here was also quite smooth. I gave up my "economy plus" seat for a man who had been separated from his wife and young child. Swasti told me I would get good karma points, and I'll take them! It was an eight hour flight. I watched three movies, but the only good one was "Iron Lady," about Margaret Thatcher.

Our flight to Nairobi is also eight hours. We're all hoping to stay awake, so that when we arrive there this evening we'll be ready for a good night's sleep, to help us adjust to the time difference.

The next time I post, I should be in Africa! I don't know if I'll be able to post during the first four days, as we'll be on safari, but stay tuned for the first time I can post an update. And, hopefully, some photos!
