Two Days; Two More Adventures

I've spent two more great days in the state of California! I was so exhausted after yesterday that I decided to go straight to bed and share the stories of my day later.

Yesterday morning we did a guided tour called 'Walking in the Footsteps of Walt Disney'. It was a great tour that informed us more about Walt and how he constructed Disneyland.  There are so many stories that most people miss out on about Walt Disney and the making of Disneyland.

                                                               (Ready for our tour!)

We learned that one of Walt's favorite attractions was the Tiki Room.  The Tiki Room was meant to be a restaurant complete with a 'show'.  It turned out that people were more interested in the tropical themed bird show (fake, but animated birds) than eating their meal.  So, now you can enjoy the show and snack on a delicious Dole Whip instead!
(This is Ophelia.  Ophelia is a cast member from the original Tiki Room show.)

(At the very end of our tour, I found this picture.  I love Michael Jackson & couldn't figure out why I saw him all over Disneyland.  Jerry explained to me that Michael Jackson is the star of the Disney's Captain EO attraction.)

After our tour we had the afternoon to ourselves. Amanda, Kayla, and I spent most of our day in Fantasyland riding on the carousel, Peter Pan, Snow White, and Its a Small World. It's a Small World was interesting. I truly have had that darn song stuck in my head ever since! It was really nice having the afternoon to finish up with all we wanted to do in Disneyland. Our park tickets are hoppers; which means that we can go to Disneyland and California Adventure as we please. Kayla, Amanda, and I havent really ventured through California adventure yet, but that's on our agenda for tomorrow.

Later in the evening we met back up with the group and went to World of Color. World of Color is kind of comparable to Fantasmic. It is a light/water/sound show. The big difference is that Fantasmic has live characters and World of Color does not. I think I can speak for everyone in our group by saying that we loved it! I would highly recommend anyone coming to Disneyland & California to go to both!

We ended our night with a little shopping. We figured that if we got all our souvenirs that we wouldn't have to shop later.

Today was a completely different adventure... In a good way! We took a break from Disney & rode a tour bus to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica

We stopped several times where we got to get out of the bus and explore on our own. We passed by so many famous places. For example, celebrity homes, famous restaurants & hotels. On Hollywood Boulevard we saw the Roosevelt Hotel where Marilyn Monroe is said to haunt.

Hollywood was an interesting experience. It kind of took the magic out of it. Normally, we see a small portion and think it's this huge place, when in reality it's not. We passed several places that were used for movie scenes and they are much less impressive than what is seen on the movie screen. Elm Street, made famous by Freddie Kruger, is literally one city block.. not really a whole street. We didn't see any actual celebrities, although we did keep an eye out for Justin Bieber.

(Even Mickey Mouse has a star on Hollywood Boulevard.)

Santa Monica was my favorite part of the whole day. L.A was fun to see, but it was enormous. Santa Monica is large too, but it gave me a better vibe. We hung around the beach and pier for a couple of hours. It would be wonderful just to be able to walk down to the pier and hang out.

After a long trek back to Anaheim, Kayla, Amanda, and decided that we needed to do something about our sore feet. We've been walking so much that we started to ache and stiffen up. The hot tub would have been nice, but it was full. So, we settled for the bath tub filled with hot water!

Tomorrow we have another tour and I plan on spending my free afternoon in California Adventure. I'm most excited for the Phineas & Ferb show!

(P.s One of the funniest things that I forgot to share before happened at the Christmas Parade the very first day. The stepsisters from Cinderella walked by and one stopped in front of Ben. She insisted that he was a prince... He was pretty proud of that moment!)

Hope you have magical dreams :)
