Tuesday!

Today was another normal day in the classroom. We spent the first block of time teaching the students how to play hang man, which they loved.  We also reviewed commonly confused words (affect/effect, there/their/they're, etc). During second block, we taught them several academic words that may come up in their TOFEL test this weekend. Third block consisted of writing time and watching Dead Poets Society. We are using the movie as a way to enhance student listening by asking them questions about the movie and showing them what to to watching for as the movie progresses. To finish the day, we spent time reading and reviewing vocabulary, as well as giving time for students to work on their upcoming presentations.

After class today, Dr. Evans came to visit. We were asked to teach a quick lesson while in was in the room, so we had the students review commonly confused words by playing hangman and using the word correctly in a sentence. We were then taken to dinner at a traditional Korean restaurant, where we sat on the floor. After dinner, we were taken to a coffee shop to talk. Molly and I both ordered ice cream instead of coffee, and it was possibly the best ice cream ever. There were four scoops, to vanilla, two strawberry, topped with whipped cream, chocolate and strawberry drizzle, and sprinkles. It was amazing!

It was a good day and students are continuously surprising us by what they are able to do. They work hard and are not afraid to ask questions when they do not understand.
