Health in India
Hello from magical India! The Lebenshilfe School truly has been a magical experience for us! We have worked with the kids, seen them grow in only a week, and made strong connections with eveyone here. While this trip has been amazing so far, we have had to be extra careful with our health when considering food and water. While the water will not make the locals sick, it can make us sick. The director has done a wonderful job accomodating our health needs. She has made sure that the water we drink is run through a purifier and then boiled. It's better to take extra precautions rather than too few. Although extra precautions have been taken, sometimes our stomachs still don't handle food very well. I got sick one morning, and the director took no hesitation to call her doctor. The doctor brought in her stethoscope, listened around, and determined all I would need was an antacid. The doctor gave me the medicine for free, and I was back on my feet in no time. While health can be an issue anywhere you go, we are lucky here to have such wonderful people taking care of us.

Health issues can be a stress sometimes, so recently we have learned new techniques to keep our stress levels to a minimum. This stress preventer is called Laughter Yoga. With all the different techniques of Laugher Yoga that we experienced, we realized how these could be used in classrooms. It brightens children's moods and helps them refocus their attention for the next lesson. It sure helped brighten our moods, too! We are having a wonderful time here in incredible India!

(University faculty note: Kathryn was under the weather for less than an hour thanks to the excellent health care she was given. We want to assure everyone she is well. We are being very well taken care of.)
