Today we were escorted around the city of Daejeon, which is south of where the school is located, by one of our students and her father. We went to many educational locations such as museums and art galleries. Between educational stops, we went into different stores where we bought gifts and souvenirs. Some of the museums we went to were really interesting. My two favorite were the Korean traditional paper museum and the fan museum. I do not know the official names of either location, but they were cool.
The father treated us to lunch, tea, coffee, and dinner. For lunch we went to a Korean steak house, which was phenomenal. We then went to a traditional tea house, where we got to learn the proper Korean way to drink tea. A short time later we went into a coffee shop where I got a hot cocoa. The father had bough some string cheese earlier, and shared it with us. It was delicious! For dinner we went to a restaurant known for Bibimbap, a Korean dish that I loved.
My favorite part of today was climbing a mountain, just so we could take pictures. It wasn't a huge mountain, but gave us an awesome view of the city. Now I have to be honest, there were stairs built into the mountain, but it was still climbing a mountain. It was so much fun!
Overall it was a great and fun day. I know we will all be sleeping very well tonight!
I can't wait to see pictures--including of the stairs in the mountain! And, I hope, the food. :) Glad you are having such a rewarding experience!
