6 girls, 5 days, 1 mountain, & no shower.
On Friday, January 6th, we set out on an adventure of a lifetime. With our backpacks jammed full of little clothing, food, tents, and other camping gear, we began to hike up a Chilean mountain to begin an adventure that would last 5 days and 4 nights. Only a few of us had experience with camping, but none of us to this extent...

The next day we prepared ourselves for another adventure. We were split into two different groups, one went to Tortuga Lake while the other went to the headwaters. The first group continued the mist netting research and the other continued the study on aquatic invertebrates. The beauty and uniqueness about all of these areas is the pristine condition of the water. We were able to fill up our bottles in any of this water & drink it without needing a filter.
The next few days found us spending time at camp and researching even more. On the 5th day we were able to descend down the mountain... we were all practically sprinting for the shower.
We are now in our last day in Puerto Williams. We plan to explore the town a little more today and later this afternoon we have a meeting with the mayor to discuss recycling policies. Our projects and presentation are in full swing & we hope to update you from Punta Arenas in a few days. Hasta luego!
